Ana de Armas: From Cuban Cinema to Hollywood Stardom
Ana de Armas started her acting journey in Cuba. When she was just 16, she got a main role with Álex González in the movie Una rosa de Francia (2006).
The director, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, met her through Cuban actor Jorge Perugorría and was very impressed with her during her drama school audition, offering her the part right away.
After the movie came out, de Armas went to Spain to promote it. There, she met Juan Lanja, who later became her agent in Spain.

This helped her get roles in other Spanish movies like El edén perdido (2007) and Madrigal (2007). She even filmed Madrigal secretly at night, without her drama school knowing.
Early Life : Ana de Armas
When she was 18, Ana de Armas decided to move to Madrid to continue acting. Within two weeks, she met casting director Luis San Narciso, who had seen her in Una rosa de Francia.
A few months later, she got the role of Carolina in the Spanish TV show El Internado (2007–2010). This show was about a mysterious boarding school.
El Internado ran for six seasons and made de Armas a famous person in Spain. While on a break from the show, she also appeared in the popular comedy movie Mentiras y Gordas (2009).
Even with her success, Ana felt she was only getting roles playing young characters. So, she asked to leave El Internado before its last season.
Transition to Hollywood (2014–2018)
In 2014, Ana de Armas moved to Los Angeles, hoping to start a career in Hollywood. At that time, her English wasn’t very good, so she took intensive language classes while also trying out for roles.
Her hard work quickly paid off. She made her first Hollywood movie in the thriller Knock Knock (2015) with Keanu Reeves.
After that, she appeared in the comedy crime movie War Dogs (2016), the action film Overdrive (2017), and the highly praised science fiction movie Blade Runner 2049 (2017), where she acted alongside Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.

Ana de Armas had her big breakthrough in 2019 with her role in Knives Out, a mystery film directed by Rian Johnson.
She played Marta Cabrera, a nurse involved in the murder of her rich boss, who was a crime novelist. Her acting was widely praised, and she was nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.
Because of the success of Knives Out, she got bigger roles. One of these was playing CIA agent Paloma in No Time to Die (2021), which was Daniel Craig’s last movie as James Bond.
